2015 Legal Technology – Year in Review

From Uptime Legal’s CEO

2015 has been a significant year for legal technology. We’ve witnessed cloud computing develop and mature, and we’ve watched as more and more law firms transition to the cloud.

This year has also been transformative for Uptime Legal Systems. We’ve grown and evolved as we continue to migrate more law firms to the cloud. Here are Uptime’s highlights from our most significant year to date.

Awards & Recognition

Uptime has received more industry recognition in 2015 than any year proceeding, a testament to our leadership in the legal technology landscape:

1. Inc. 5000. Uptime was ranked among America’s fastest-growing private companies for the second year in a row

2. TechnoLawyer Top Product. Uptime Practice and LegalWorks were ranked among TechnoLawyer’s top products for 2015

3. MSPmentor – #1 Provider. Uptime was named the number one small business IT service provider (across all industries) in the world by MSPmentor.

4. RCP Rocket Award. Uptime was recognized for excellence both in growth as well as its successful verticalization strategy and commitment to the legal industry.

The Uptime Authorized Partner Program

Uptime launched its official Partner program: The Uptime Authorized Partner (UAP) program. This program was developed to provide legal technologists–legal software consultants and advisors–with a platform to transition their clients to the cloud.

Since its launch, many long-time legal technology consultants have become Uptime Authorized Partners and today deliver Uptime cloud services to their customers. Certified Consultants for PCLaw, Time Matters, WorlDox, Tabs3 and more now leverage Uptime Legal to host the software that their clients rely on.

Law Practice as a Service® (LPaaS)

Earlier this year, Uptime defined the platform for the future of Private Cloud based legal technology. LPaaS is more than a catch phrase. Instead, it is the strategic approach Uptime developed for helping small and mid-size law firms Practice Better. LPaaS addresses the importance of compliance, security, remote access, and other considerations in helping law firms move to the cloud.

Uptime University

This year Uptime developed and launched Uptime University: Our comprehensive training program for new Uptime staff. Uptime University takes new Uptime hires–“blank slate” IT professionals–and turns them into legal technology experts.

Uptime University teaches new Uptimers the workflow and culture of law firms. The curriculum teaches new staff Uptime’s core values, how to support Uptime’s legal-centric cloud services, and how to support the common legal applications used by Uptime clients.

A New Company Name

Uptime Systems became Uptime Legal Systems this year. Uptime has been focused on working with law firms for several years, and in 2015, we rebranded the company Uptime Legal Systems to underscore our exclusive commitment to, and leadership within, the legal community.

A Culture of Growth

Uptime has always fostered a culture of financial, professional, and personal growth. As a business, Uptime continues to grow, as we achieved double-digit year-over-year growth in 2015, and we have more than tripled in size over the past three years.

Looking Ahead

For our employees, clients, partners, and colleagues, Uptime’s future continues to remain bright. Uptime continues to grow our market share and evolve our cloud offerings. Our goal, as more and more law firms eliminate servers and local IT support, is to provide cloud-first, legal-first services, and continue to invest in our Law Practice as a Service® platform.

In Closing

We could not have achieved this success without you, our clients and partners. We extend to you our heartfelt appreciation. We wish you, your staff, and your families a healthy, happy holiday season and look forward to working with you to make 2016 the best year yet!
